Medicinal properties of “Gold”.
Ayurveda has always used gold, for its medicinal properties. It improves heart health, purifies blood, enhances immunity, promotes sexual wellness, improves mental health, treats fevers, infections, combats indigestion, and is also known to treat tuberculosis and inhibit tumour and cancer growth. The medicinal properties of gold can be found in the ancient medical classic Charak Samhita.

The therapeutic use of Swarna Bhasma, or incinerated gold, can be traced back as early as 2000 BC. The process involves quenching 24K gold flakes with herbal extracts and subjecting them to multiple incinerations through a method called Putpaka. This process alters the biochemical composition of the gold particles, transforming them into a fine powder known as Swarna Bhasma. The addition of herbal extracts during quenching enhances the therapeutic properties of Swarna Bhasma. Furthermore, this enhanced Swarna Bhasma is combined with other herbs to increase drug permeability, improve drug efficacy, and reduce drug dosage.

Ancient rituals of transforming herbs into Swarnakayu ayurvedic medicines
We begin by carefully sourcing fresh, organic herbs. These herbs are guaranteed to be 100% organic and are collected during the early morning, known as Brahma Murtha, to ensure their utmost potency.
To preserve the valuable medicinal properties of the herbs, they undergo a careful drying process in the shade for 2 to 3 days, avoiding direct sunlight. This step is essential as sun drying can cause the essential oils in the herbs to evaporate, compromising their efficacy.
After the drying process, the herbs are manually pounded into a fine powder using traditional methods, often employing a mortar and pestle known as Khalbatta. In some cases, a pulverizer is used, but it is made in small batches and operated at a slow speed to retain the medicinal properties of the herbs.
Once the herbs are in powdered form, they are strained using a cloth (Vastraghal) to remove any coarse particles. Following this, the unique trituration process (Bhavana) takes place. The powder is slowly churned to ensure thorough mixing and absorption of the liquid, thereby enhancing the medicinal properties of the formulation.
Upon completion of the trituration process, the mixture is naturally dried and cold-pressed to form the final Ayurvedic medicine. This time-honoured preparation method aims to preserve the potency and efficacy of the herbs, ensuring that Swarnakayu Ayurvedic products deliver their intended benefits effectively.
